Odessa announces its biggest show to date. Matador Recording Artists Brightblack Morning Light will play the Broad Avenue alternative space on Friday, February 27. Doors open at 9pm. Rio En Medio (of Gnomonsong Records) will open.
Brightblack Morning Light (formerly Brightblack) is known for blending folk rock and psychedelic music, a style that evolved from band’s Alabama roots and later relocation to New Mexico. Their music recalls musicians as diverse as Lee Perry, Bob Dylan, My Bloody Valentine, and Otis Redding, with sounds ranging from folk to gospel to experimental electronics.
Described as “haunting, beautiful, and weird in equal doses,” Brightblack’s music provides a unique and impassioned ode to the natural world. Could you expect anything else? True to their name, the band lives, works, and records in a secluded, solar-powered adobe on the New Mexico mesa.
